Washington, Aug 11 (ANI): Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was reportedly approached by White House officials about a cabinet position, around the time he left office in January 2011, according to a report.
The offer to the centrist Republican governor wasn't sudden, as Schwarzenegger, who was in office for more than seven years, acknowledged earlier in his career that he would welcome a cabinet post.
According to the Wall Street Journal, in July 2008, during an interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC's "This Week", Schwarzenegger was asked whether he would consider an energy-related cabinet position with the Obama administration, if Obama, then a candidate, wins the presidency, to which he had replied saying he would.
"I'd take his call now, and I'd take his call when he's president, anytime," Schwarzenegger had said.
In another incident, in Dec. 2008 during an interview on "60 Minutes", when Schwarzenegger was asked whether he would run for the post of President if the Constitution were changed, he had said, "Yeah, absolutely."I think that I am always a person that looks for the next big goal. And I love challenges. I always set goals that are so high, that are almost impossible to achieve," the Terminator star had said. (ANI)
