London, Aug 10(ANI): British boxing star Nicola Adams, who became the first woman to win a gold medal inside the ring, just wanted to eat spicy chicken and chips from a fast-food chain.
Adams weighed down Chinese champion Ren Cancan at the ExCeL Centre, knocking down her opponent in the second round and dominating the flyweight fight to win by 16 points to 7.
"I just want to go to Nando's," The Telegraph quoted Adams, as saying.
Cancan is the world champion and has beaten Adams in their last two fights, but so complete was Adams's control of the bout in the last seconds of the final round that she indulged in some showmanship, imitating the trademark shuffle of her childhood hero, Muhammad Ali.
Known in boxing as the Ali Shuffle, she later joked that she had claimed the move for herself: "It's the Nikki shuffle now," she said.
Like many Olympians, Adams said her victory was the realization of a lifelong dream. "I've dreamed about this all my life, since I was a little girl watching my heroes Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard." (ANI)
