London, Aug 10 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russia's David Aryapetyan and Ireland's Paddy Barnes won Olympic bronze medals in men's 49kg boxing here Friday.

Aryapetyan, a 2009 world silver medallist, narrowly lost his semi-final against 2009 Asian champion Kaeo Pongprayoon of Thailand 13-12.

Pongprayoon was considered to have out-boxed his opponent in the second round, with the judges unable to separate them in the other three.

Barnes, meanwhile, drew his bout with China's defending champion Zou Simming 15-15, but lost 45-44 on a countback of the scores.

It was a repeat of the Beijing semi-final, when Barnes lost to the same opponent for bronze four years ago.

Zou and Pongprayoon clash in the gold medal bout Saturday.
