Obama calls Manmohan Singh to express condolences over Wisconsin shooting

Washington, August 9 (ANI): President Barack Obama called Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to express his condolences over the deaths of six Sikh worshippers at the Wisconsin temple shooting.hite House press secretary Jay Carney said that Obama called Singh on Wednesday.

Carney said the two leaders discussed their "shared commitment to tolerance and religious freedom".

"The president reiterated his appreciation of the contributions that Sikhs make in the U.S.," Politico quoted Carney, as saying.

According to the report, several of the victims in Wisconsin were from India.

The gunman, identified by officials as Wade Michael Page, opened fire at a Sikh Temple in the Milwaukee suburb in Oak Creek on Sunday, killing six worshippers before he was wounded by police and then shot himself in the head. (ANI)
