New Delhi, Aug 6 (IANS) The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coordination committee, formed following a stand-off with coalition partner Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) late last month, is expected to meet in the next few days.

"The UPA has decided to formally constitute a coordination committee, which is expected to meet in the next few days," a source said Monday.

The NCP had voiced its unhappiness over the Congress "ignoring" its allies on important decisions and insisted that the coordination committee be formed.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi Monday hosted a luncheon Monday for UPA partners, a day ahead of the vice presidential election in which Hamid Ansari is the UPA candidate. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jaswant Singh is the National Democratic Alliance candidate.

Gandhi's luncheon meeting also comes ahead of parliament's monsoon session that begins on Wednesday.

All the UPA allies attended the lunch.
