'Golden boy' Phelps describes winning last gold 'craziest night ever'

London, Aug 5 (ANI): After American swimming sensation Michael Phelps won his last gold at the London Olympics, rising to become one of the greatest Olympians ever, he called it his career's 'craziest night' till now, as he capped a career, that inspired a generation.

Phelps, 27, helped America to clinch gold in the 4x100m medley relay at the London Aquatics Centre, in the ongoing London 2012 Olympics, finishing his career with a staggering 18 gold medals.

"Tonight, is the craziest night. I dreamt about this. Bob (Bowman) and I worked to become this. Looking back at my career, I've seen that I've done what I wanted. Every Olympics has got better and better. The people have been great. It was fun. I couldn't have mastered it without all of this support in my career," the Daily Mirror quoted Phelps, as saying.

Phelps' impressive swim on the butterfly leg regained him the lead from Japan, which he handed over to team-mate Nathan Adrian in first place for the freestyle, helping the U.S. clinch another title in 3 minutes 29.35 seconds.

Phelps was honoured with a special individual ceremony after concluding his record-breaking career as the 'most decorated Olympian,' the report said.

His Games career had started in Sydney 12 years ago when he was fifth in the 200m-butterfly, it added. (ANI)
