Three held with fake 6.40 lakh Takas in Dhaka

Dhaka, Aug 3 (IANS) Three people have been arrested in Dhaka after counterfeit currency worth 6.40 lakh Takas (about $7,850) was recovered from them, The Daily Star reported.

The Detective Branch (DB) of the police arrested the three people -- Mohammad Sujon, 25, Abdur Rahim, 22, and Bilash Akand, 24 -- from the capital's Paltan area Thursday night.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of DB police nabbed the trio in front of Gazi Bhaban at Paltan around 9.00 p.m., Moshiur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner (west) of DB, told reporters Friday morning.

During preliminary investigation, Sujon admitted to selling fake notes in retail and wholesale markets, he added.
