New Delhi, July 31 (ANI): Veteran social activist Anna Hazare has accused Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, V. Narayanasamy, of lying in a bid to break his team by cheating the former, who is observing fast unto death to bring a strong Lokpal Bill.
Narayanasamy had recently said that Hazare's close aide Arvind Kejriwal had discarded the bill that was earlier presented by the government, which had also been allegedly approved by the anti-graft crusader.
"What will happen to this country if such an important government office holder lies? Even now if Narayanasamy has any doubt, then let Law Minister Salman Khurshid come here and sit with me in front of everyone and the media. I shall expose their lies to everyone," said Hazare.
Hazare's close aide Shanti Bhushan also levelled scathing attacks on various political parties for their double standards in the passage of the Ombudsman bill.
"No political party wants the Jan Lokpal Bill to come in which can remove corruption. Any party, be they Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party, Congress or Bharatiya Janata Party) or any other political party," he said.
Hazare began his indefinite fast against corruption on Sunday by joining Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Gopal Rai - who have been fasting since July 25.
Team Anna has demanded the setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of retired judges of Supreme and High Courts, to probe charges of corruption against 15 cabinet ministers, including the Prime Minister.
They have also sought the transferring of cases against political party chiefs, which are being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to the SIT, in addition to setting up fast track courts to dispose of cases against lawmakers within six months.
While reacting to the ongoing movement, Congress leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi said that the Lokpal Bill is in process in the parliament.
"They have the right to fast. Democracy prevails in the country, and anybody can take to movement to express their views. How can we deprive them from this? But the law making process is on in the parliament. The Lok Sabha has passed it, now debate is going on in the Rajya Sabha. A committee has been formed which doing its work. Now still if someone wants to fast, then nothing can be done here," he said. (ANI)
