Official property is private property for Pak politicians!
Lahore, July 27 (ANI): A former chief minister of Pakistan's Punjab province is yet to return official and household items, worth Rs. 4 million, which he took along with him from the official residence after vacating it.
Sardar Dost Muhammad Khosa was elected chief minister in April 2008 and held the post till June 2008. The Communication and Works Department furnished the Chief Minister House with new furniture, electronic appliances, crockery, lights and paintings on Khosa's demand, which cost around Rs. 4 million to the public exchequer, reports The Express Tribune.
According to the paper, after June 2008, when Shahbaz Sharif took over the post of chief minister, Khosa, while vacating the official residence, allegedly took away all furniture, electronic appliances, beds, paintings and crockery along with him to his private residence.
The Department wrote to Khosa asking him to return all the official belongings allegedly taken away from the government residence.
Khosa, however, denied having taken away anything during shifting and said that officials were alleging theft without any solid evidence.
Javed Butt, an employee of Khosa, termed the accusation as "mere allegations to malign Sahib".
A senior official of the Department alleged that the items had been taken away and shifted to Khosa's ancestral house in Dera Ghazi Khan. He added that Khosa had been given the option to pay compensation for the missing items if he was not willing to return them. Khosa is yet to write a reply. (ANI)
