New Delhi, July 27 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Aircel-Maxis deal shows that the ruling UPA is a 'blackmailers government'.

"The worst has come in open after the investigation by CBI that how this UPA Government is a 'blackmailers government'. We have seen how one company was forced out of business by misusing the power and how one company was allowed to take over by giving undue benefits. And in the process receiving 500 crore plus kickback," said BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar.

"This is the worst example of corruption we are seeing. So, this proves that this is a 'blackmailers government'," he added.

Javadekar further asked whether the Finance Ministry was aware of the fact that that Aircel is being forced out of business.

"Whether the Finance Ministry was knowing this fact or not that Aircel is being forced out of business. And they are forced to marry with Maxis," he said.

The CBI, which has grilled former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran in connection with the allegations that he had received Rs 547 crore as kickbacks from a Malaysian company in the controversial Aircel-Maxis deal, is expected to file a chargeheet against the DMK leader and his brother Kalanithi.

According to reports, the CBI, which has concluded the investigations in the Aircel-Maxis case, has claimed that Dayanidhi through Kalanithi accepted illegal gratification in the garb of premium share investment in family-controlled Sun Direct.

The investigating agency has also claimed that Maran, as Telecom Minister, blocked the legitimate requests of Dishnet DSL, paving the way for the Maxis takeover. (ANI)
