I was 'pissed off' after England exit: Capello
Moscow, July 26 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Fabio Capello was "pissed off" and wanted to retire after his acrimonious departure from the England job, he said at his unveiling as Russia coach Thursday.
Capello has signed a two-year contract with Russia, his first job since leaving England in February after a dispute with the English FA over the captaincy.
"After what happened, I was pissed off and wanted to stop," he said.
"If you are always interfered with you don't feel well, you feel ill at ease and you are pissed off."
Nevertheless, he was pleased with his performance as England coach, he said.
"I think I achieved everything in England that I wanted," he said.
Capello left after the English FA decided to strip John Terry of the captaincy when the defender faced charges of racism of which he was subsequently cleared.
Capello reiterated his claim that the FA should not have overruled him.
"In my contract it was put on paper that the decision on the captaincy should be taken by the coach."
The Italian refused to comment further on his time with England, citing confidentiality clauses with financial penalties in his contract with the English FA.
"There are some penalties. I'm not going to pay those penalties," he said, although he admitted that he had been disappointed not to lead England at Euro 2012 after the team qualified under his management.
Capello's reign as Russian coach kicks off with a friendly against the Ivory Coast Aug 15.
After the Ivory Coast game, Russia will then have two World Cup qualifying games, one at home to Northern Ireland Sep 7 and one away to Israel Sep 11.
