UAE distributes food for Iftar in Senegal, Nigeria

Abu Dhabi, July 20 (IANS/WAM) The UAE's embassies in Senegalese capital Dakar and Nigerian capital Abuja Friday distributed food baskets to destitute families to help them cook the Iftar meal on the first day of Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

The food was sent by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation, the UAE Red Crescent, the Dubai Charity Association and the Sharjah Charity International.

The baskets distributed among 3,780 families in Dakar contained rice, edible oil, sugar and dates.

The embassy in Nigeria will implement the Iftar project for a month. Hot meals would also be served for Iftar at selected outlets.
