Woods says Open Championship course almost 'unplayable'

London, July 16(ANI): Ace golfer Tiger Woods has declared the venue for the Open Championship as unplayable after visiting the Royal Lytham on Sunday for his practice round.

Woods said that the rough, fed by the wet summer is so thick that it has turned it almost inescapable.

"Oh my God. It's just that you can't get out of it. The bottom six inches is so lush," The Daily Express quoted Woods, as saying.

"The wispy stuff we've always faced at every British Open, but at the bottom it's almost unplayable in some places. I've never seen the rough this high or thick and dense," he added.

Lytham is one of the toughest courses on the championship schedule in normal circumstances but it promises to be even more challenging when the event starts on Thursday.

Woods' judgement and a bad weather forecast for the championship raises fears of a bloodbath. (ANI)
