Wellington, July 15 (ANI): New Zealand losing the one-day international cricket series to the West Indies in St Kitts made a blistering century by Ross Taylor in his comeback match seem 'too little'.
Despite Taylor's 110 off 115 balls, New Zealand lost by 24 runs in game four, chasing 265 to win and saw the West Indies clinch the ODI series 3-1.
According to Stuffz.co.nz, the match was Taylor's first ODI since October last year, against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, due to a run of injuries including a torn calf, a broken arm, and then his shoulder problem in Florida.
The Black Caps captain hit six fours and five sixes, and after taking 21 off an Andre Russell over, the 43rd of the innings, New Zealand needed 50 off 42 balls.
However, the return of speedster Tino Best did the trick as Taylor skied a catch in the 49th over, and West Indies spinner Sunil Narine applied the brakes.
Best ended with 4-46 and Narine, who has caused New Zealand problems the entire series, took 2-20 off 10 overs, and the tourists were dismissed for 240 with three balls to spare.
New Zealand snared the prized wicket of Chris Gayle cheaply for a second successive match but it didn't stop the West Indies setting a challenging total of 264 after they won the toss. (ANI)
