Piers Morgan 'frustrated' over Arsenal not winning any trophy in 7 yrs

London, July 15 (ANI): TV host Piers Morgan, who has been a big fan of Arsenal, has said that it is "frustrating" for him to watch the club not able to win a single trophy for seven years.

Morgan knows all about the Gunners' tight purse strings, and wants to work on a new business model if he ever gets the chance to be top boss.

The TV presenter revealed how he snubbed his beloved Arsenal in an exclusive chat with SunSport.

"It is very, very frustrating. Seven years with no trophy is just not good enough for a supposedly "big" club," the Sun quoted him as saying.

"We still play great football, but we always fall short when the business end of the season arrives. Injuries haven't helped, but I think there's been a real strategic issue too.

"We replaced the big, powerful Invincibles with smaller, more technical players - it would have possibly worked in La Liga, but not in the Premier League. You don't go to Stoke on a wet, cold February night with a team full of refugees from Lilliputia," he said.

When asked if he was frustrated with team manager Arsene Wenger, he responded "Extremely. Like all Arsenal fans, I love the man and have so much gratitude and respect for what he has achieved for us.

"BUT, and it's a big but, his tactics and transfer activity in the last seven years have failed to win a single trophy. The buck for that has to stop with the manager.

"I think he's really missed former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein. We haven't won a thing since Dein was forced out. They were like Lennon and McCartney, the music wasn't as good when they split up," he added.

He said that the board was to be blamed for the lack of trophies in the seven years.

"The board, primarily. They clearly haven't released enough funds to compete in the modern marketplace.

"There is no point squealing about the Arabs, Americans and Russians changing the financial rules - it is what it is. You have to adapt, or die.

"Wenger must also accept much of the blame. It's his team, his tactics. They've failed to win a thing in seven years," he said. (ANI)
