Heavy rains lash parts of Delhi, more expected Friday

New Delhi, July 12 (IANS) Parts of Delhi were lashed by heavy rainfall Thursday afternoon, bringing the maximum temperature three notches below average to 32.8 degrees Celsius. The met office has forecast more rains Friday.

The city received a total of 4.1 mm of rainfall from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Parts of east, central and north Delhi particul arly received heavy rainfall.

As a result, several roads were waterlogged affecting vehicular traffic in some areas.

The day's humidity levels wavered between a high of 89 and a low of 70 percent.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the weather gods will continue to smile upon the capital Friday with more rains expected.

"The skies will be cloudy tomorrow (Friday) and parts of the city will receive rains. Some spells may be heavy," said the IMD.

The maximum and minimum temperature are expected to hover around 33 and 27 degrees Celsius.

Wednesdays' maximum temperature was a notch below average at 33.9 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 27.2 degrees.
