Lokomotiv Moscow release Stanislav Ivanov

Russian Federation,Sports, Wed, 11 Jul 2012 IANS

Moscow, July 11 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Lokomotiv Moscow have released Moldovan midfielder Stanislav Ivanov, the club said Wednesday.

The 31-year-old has been a fringe player at best since joining from now-dissolved FC Moscow in 2009.

Ivanov made only 17 appearances for Lokomotiv and spent most of the time on loan with Krylya Sovetov and Rostov.

His contract was due to expire in June 2013.

In their quest to improve upon last season's seventh place, Lokomotiv have made two significant signings so far this summer, acquiring Russian winger Alexander Samedov from Dynamo Moscow and Croatian defender Vedran Corluka from Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Croatia coach Slaven Bilic took over from Jose Couceiro after Euro 2012.
