GP 'bad boy' Maldonado slapped with 9,000 pounds fine over back-to-back crashes

London, July 10 (ANI): Williams F1 ace Pastor Maldonado has been slapped with a 9,000 pound fine for his second crash in two races at Silverstone, UK.

The Venezuelan was also reportedly handed an official reprimand after he side-swiped a furious Sergio Perez out of the British Grand Prix after just 11 laps.he Sauber ace, slated his Williams driver as a "stupid driver" and called for him to be slapped with a heavy penalty.

However, Maldonado insisted the crash was accidental.

"It was unlucky this time because I lost the car on the entry to the corner, right on the apex with the front and then the rear," the Daily Mirror quoted Maldonado, as saying.

"I did the braking on DRS, and actually even braked before my normal braking place," he added.

The British Grand Prix race stewards, which included ex-champion Nigel Mansell, in a statement claimed that Maldonado was guilty of causing a collision, and because of the serious nature of the incident it was decided he would be hit with two penalties. (ANI)
