New Delhi, July 10 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah seems to have expressed solidarity with Union Law and Justice Minister Salman Khurshid's view about the perils of being misquoted by the media, especially when it comes to using English words.

Reacting to the observations and criticisms from various quarters, including leaders and the media to Khurshid's interview to the Indian Express on the Congress Party suffering from a lack of 'ideological direction', especially from the next generation of leadership, Abdullah tweeted. " Note to self don't use English words in replies to media that will be misunderstood, misinterpreted or will confuse them."

Khurshid had earlier kicked up a storm by saying that the root of the problems plaguing the Congress was the lack of "ideological direction" from its next generation leader Rahul Gandhi.

He had also said that governance and politics had not been the strong points of UPA-II regime, hinting that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not in charge of the government.

While referring to Rahul Gandhi, he said that the latter has so far shown an unwillingness to accept functional responsibility, even though it was undoubtedly and unquestionably established that he was the number two leader in the party.

On the UPA II, he told the Indian Express "governance and politics have all got intermingled. The political props have got mixed up. It's a scattered situation."

"The stage has to be set up again and only the Congress president can do it. She is the one who has the stature. The Prime Minister can then run the government, but he cannot set the stage," Khurshid added.

While some leaders like Shahid Siddique of the Samajwadi Party welcomed Khurshid's remark by saying that he had spoken the truth, Khurshid clarified later that he was being misinterpreted and misquoted, especially by the English media.

He said it was his, the Congress party and the government's intention to be transparent and upfront about the challenges being faced by the country, and urged the media to project views of all three in a positive and constructive manner, rather than in a negative light or context. (ANI)
