Three more bodies recovered in Himachal disaster

Shimla, July 8 (IANS) Rescue workers in Haryana Sunday recovered three more bodies of the eight people washed away while crossing a flooded rivulet in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district.

With this, the death toll in the accident has risen to four, Deputy Superintendent of Police N.S. Negi said.

Negi said the three bodies were recovered on the banks of the Som river, some 35 km from the accident spot, in Haryana's Yamunanagar district. The first body was also recovered from there on the day of the accident.

The fate of four others is still not known.

Eight people of a marriage party were swept away while crossing a flooded rivulet in Paonta Sahib, some 150 km from here.

The victims were in four vehicles. They got struck while crossing the rivulet but most of them managed to save themselves.

Rain-fed rivulets in the low hills of the state cause massive damage every monsoon.
