Islamabad, Sat, 07 Jul 2012 ANI

Islamabad, July 7 (ANI): Pakistan's Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has said that the government's decision to re-open NATO supply routes was not only in the interest of Islamabad, but would also benefit Afghanistan.

Khar said the decision was in the interest of Pakistan that Afghanistan remained peaceful and stable.

She stressed that the stability of both countries is interlinked, The Dawn reports.

According to the report, Khar pointed out that with the settlement of a difficult issue between Pakistan and the US, there was an opportunity to build ties with America.

"We should use the opportunity and should not let it go," the paper quoted her, as saying.

Khar said the process of engagement between Pakistan and the US had been in a state of pause.

According to the paper, earlier, she had said that Islamabad-Washington ties had been shrouded in non-transparency but that the Pakistani government wanted to remove it once for all. (ANI)
