Zardari 'shocked' over barbaric burning of Pakistani man to death for 'blasphemy'

Islamabad, July 6 (ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound grief over the harrowing incident in which hundreds of angry protestors burnt a man to death after accusing him of blasphemy.

The mob wrested the mentally unstable man from police custody before burning him in the Punjab province.

Police said they detained the man after locals complained that he had desecrated the Koran.

Expressing shock over the incident Zardari said that no one should be allowed to take the law into their own hands no matter what the crime is, The Express Tribune reports.

He also directed the concerned authorities to dispense justice according to the law in this case.

Zardari had directed the Advisor for Interior Rehman Malik to conduct an inquiry into the incident and to submit a report on the matter immediately.

According to the paper, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has also taken notice of the incident and has sought a report from the concerned departments. (ANI)
