Four agencies seek Jindal's custody

New Delhi, July 5 (IANS) A verbal tussle developed in a court here hearing a case against 26/11 plotter Abu Jindal Hamza when four probe agencies sought his custody on different grounds.
Eventually, the court extended Jindal's custody with the Delhi Police Special Cell by 15 days.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Mumbai police and the Pune police were also keen to take him into their custody.
The Delhi Police had sought his remand on the basis of investigations into his alleged involvement in collecting huge haul of illegal weapons, as also in a factory used for manufacturing illegal arms.
The NIA wanted Jindal's custody as matter being investigated by the agency was a prospective one as it was engaged in averting another 26/11 strike.
The Mumbai police wanted Jindal's custody for his alleged involvement in the 2010 German Bakery blast case and a plot to attack Nasik Police Academy as a co-accused's disclosure statement had revealed his name as a conspirator.
The Mumbai police also told the court that they wanted to bring the accused face-to-face with Kasab.
The Pune police told the court that the accused was required to be confronted with other accused in the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case. At present, arguments on charge are being heard in this case in a Maharashtra court.
The court found merit in the Delhi Police submission and extended its custody of Jindal till July 20.
