New Delhi, July 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nitin Gadkari, who inaugurated a hostel for tribal youth along with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh here yesterday, said it would be of great help to students belonging to the regions where the Maoist insurgency had impacted education.
"In tribal areas where left-wing extremism has an impact on the social picture, such schemes for the youth aimed at socio-economic transformation, as done by our government in Chhattisgarh, should be emulated by other states. Then, tribal students will come forward in the foreign, administrative and police services as well as in engineering," he said.
Meanwhile, Raman Singh said that Delhi had better facilities for such education, which could help the talented youth of his state realize their dreams.
"Delhi has better coaching facilities for competitive examinations. Talented children of our state belonging to BPL (below poverty line) families, who cannot afford coaching and rent, will be helped in the realization of their dreams by this hostel. We will select meritorious children from the state, and enroll them free of cost in coaching institutions," he said.
Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who met the tribal students from Maoist-affected areas of Chhattisgarh here on Tuesday, said that all sections of society have the opportunity to excel in India.
Dr.Manmohan Singh met over 150 tribal students from Maoist-affected areas of Chhattisgarh, who have cleared IIT-JEE and AIEEE. Dr. Singh also congratulated these students, who accompanied Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh.
Raman Singh on his part told the Prime Minister that the students were part of the first batch of students of 'PRAYAS', a special initiative of the Chhattisgarh Government. (ANI)
