Kabul, July 4 (Xinhua-ANI): The uprising of local people against Taliban militants in Andar district of Ghazni province 125 km south of Afghan capital Kabul has led to reopening several schools, a local official said Wednesday.

"Since launching the uprising against Taliban rebels in Andar district, 30 villages have been liberated and several schools reopened," spokesman for provincial administration Fazal Rahman Sabawon told Xinhua.

The uprising, the first of its kind in Ghazni and adjoining areas, began one and half month ago. A total of 30 Afghan Taliban militants, and some 70 foreign fighters, including Arab and Pakistanis, have been killed, said Sabawon.

Taliban militants have shut down several schools and clinics in Andar district and surrounding rural areas, officials said. (Xinhua-ANI)
