Injured Dernbach to miss ODI series against Australia

London, July 3 (ANI): Pacer Jade Dernbach will not play for England in the remaining ODIs against Australia after he suffered a side strain during the second match at The Oval.

The England and Wales Cricket Board said: "A rehabilitation and recovery programme will be established alongside Surrey CCC in the coming days following further medical assessment of Dernbach."

Dernbach was already due to miss Wednesday's third one-day international against Australia at Edgbaston on compassionate grounds.

He and fellow England squad member Stuart Meaker are due to attend the funeral of their former Surrey teammate Tom Maynard, who died at the age of 23 in an incident on a London Undeground railway track last month, Sport24 reports.

Warwickshire seamer Chris Woakes has been called in as cover for Meaker and Dernbach.

Pacer James Anderson missed Sunday's match due to groin injury, and his participation in the rest of the series remains uncertain. (ANI)
