Cook says thoughts of series whitewash over Oz not in mind after winning second ODI

London, July 2(ANI): England captain Alastair Cook has said thoughts of completing a series whitewash over old foes Australia are still not on the players minds, following a six-wicket victory in the second one-day at the KIA Oval, which extended their lead to 2-0 in the five-match NatWest Series.

Australia, who was weakened by the loss of youngster Pat Cummins, could only manage a below-par score of 251 while batting first, and England batsmen faced no problem in chasing that score down with 26 balls to spare.

Ravi Bopara scored 82 while Ian Bell continued his good form, scoring 75.

Cook said their sole focus was on the third one-day international at Edgbaston.

"It doesn't enter our thoughts even though I know you will all probably be writing about it. One of our strong points is concentrating on what we can control. So all our thoughts are on that first hour at Edgbaston on Wednesday," The Daily Express quoted Cook, as saying.

Australian captain Michael Clarke said the scoreboard didn't actually speak the truth, and praised England for their all round performance.

"I think the scoreboard hid how far away the teams were in the first game. England deserve a lot of credit for the way they performed out there, but it is clear we need to improve very quickly," Clarke said.larke refused to bite on whether a 5-0 series score line was now a worry.

He said: "You'll have to ask Alastair about that. I'm certainly not thinking of winning 5-0 now." (ANI)
