No monsoon rains in capital for next five to six days: Met department Director

New Delhi, June 26 (ANI): The much-awaited southwest monsoon may not reach Delhi on the 29th of this month as predicted by the Met office earlier. Met department Director, R.C. Vashisth said there will be no monsoon rains in the next five to six days in the capital.

He further added that it is due to a developing weather phenomenon, which has stopped monsoon winds from advancing over to Delhi and its adjoining areas in Northwestern India.

Vashisth said the monsoon has not moved forward from eastern Uttar Pradesh. He added that the monsoon usually advances in surges, and the current surge that was expected to bring rain to Delhi and the region has weakened. The next surge is not expected any sooner.

Monsoon onset over Uttar Pradesh was also delayed due to this. Vashisth said that Delhi might experience some thundershowers over next three days, which will be neither related to monsoon nor to western disturbance. It is expected to be due to local heating. (ANI)
