Islamabad, June 19 (ANI): Pakistani real estate tycoon Malik Riaz has claimed that his life is in danger as he had been receiving threats, and requested the Supreme Court to provide him security during his appearance before the court on June 21.
Riaz claimed in his petition that some lawyers had threatened him during his last appearance before the apex court, and that he was still receiving threats, reports the Daily Times.
Riaz also alleged that the print and electronic media have launched a campaign against him and people from different factions of the society were being provoked against him. He said he is a Pakistani citizen who pays his taxes regularly, and therefore he deserves sufficient security to present his case in the court.
Riaz reportedly made payments to Pakistan chief justice's son Dr Arsalan Iftikhar, after the latter assured Riaz that he would settle the cases fought in his father's court in favour of Bahria Town.
A statement submitted in the Pakistan Supreme Court by Riaz had stated that Rs 342,501,254 was spent on Arsalan's three foreign tours. (ANI)
