Mumbai, June 15 (IANS) ITC's Bhadrachalam (Andhra Pradesh) unit and Bangalore International Airport Friday won the golden and silver plaque, respectively, at the Confederation of Indian Industry's GreenCo Summit, 2012 for their green initiatives.

The CII has initiated GreenCo rating with the intention of pushing the green agenda in the country. A CII Environment Directory and GreenCo reference material were released during the event.

"Just like we dispelled another myth of quality and quantity not being compatible, we have to do the same for development and sustainability," Pradeep Bhargava, chairman of CII (Western region) said.

He urged the industry to go green. "The green agenda is ours. Let us not outsource it to the government. We have to solve it ourselves and we have the resources and flexibility to do so. And just as you don't leave profitability to the government, you should not leave green to them as well."
