London, June 11 (ANI): The wedding of ex-Newcastle United footballer Danny Guthrie ended on an ugly note after police was twice called to end a brawl in which guests flung lobster thermidor at each other.

Staff at Allerton Castle described the chaos as 'more Big Fat Gypsy Wedding than our usual clientele,' adding that those who attended the wedding had 'behaved like peasants with money.'

According to The Telegraph, police were twice called on June 2 after violence erupted during the nuptials of player Guthrie, 25, and his Liverpudlian girlfriend Rebecca Middleman.

A spokeswoman for the police said: "North Yorkshire Police was called at 2.25 a.m. on the morning of 2 June to reports of a fight among a group of guests at Allerton Castle, Allerton Park near Knaresborough".

"Police received a further call at 4.50 a.m. when a group of people began banging on doors and causing a disturbance. On arrival, police found a number of guests had been locked out and were trying to get back in. No crimes were reported and no arrests were made," the spokeswoman added.

It was reported that Rebecca was punched in the face during the fight and she had to go to hospital for check up the following morning.

However, Guthrie said that the incident had been blown out of proportion.

Families of both the bride and groom have denied that any such incident took place. (ANI)
