Modi receives all-out support from BJP

New Delhi, Mon, 11 Jun 2012 ANI

New Delhi, June 11 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday hit back at the ruling Congress Party for accusing Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi of indulging in political terrorism.

"This is an example of Congress Party's mental bankruptcy that last time it called Narendra Modi a 'trader of death' and itself jumped into the 'death well' by losing the elections. This time again, the party is calling Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party 'militants'. Definitely, these tactics will not help Congress in the elections," said BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

The recent resignation by Modi's critic BJP General Secretary Sanjay Joshi from the party has flared political debates.

To a poser on this issue, Naqvi said that the Congress will not be able to take any political leverage of the situation.

"I feel that the Congress Party is not confident on its own dedication, popularity and people's trust on it. Therefore, it is trying to win the polls by raising such issues which have no impact on the public, but I think they will not be benefited by this," he said.

Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Arjun Modhwadia had earlier on Sunday called Narendra Modi a 'political terrorist'.

Describing Modi as a political extremist, Modhwadia said that ministers like Modi and former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa seem to move around feely out of the gambit of prevailing law.

"The party chief will be able to tell the reason as to why the BJP party gets down before corrupt ministers like Narendra Modi and B S Yeddyurappa. Today, the people like Narendra Modi are indulging in political terrorism in the party and everybody knows it," he told media in Surat.

He also questioned the logic behind BJP chief Nitin Gadkari accepting Sanjay Joshi's resignation.

"Due to the power and wealth of the Narendra Modi, the entire party has to bow down before him. The BJP is not taking any action against Yeddyurappa for his involvement in corruption. In Gujarat, Narendra Modi was involved in the murder of Haren Pandya; he was involved in 2002 riots and also for his involvement in corruption. The BJP party didn't take any stand against him. But dreading Narendra Modi, the party terminated Sanjay Joshi from the party," Modhwadia said.

He further slammed the leadership of BJP for being bullied by the Modi's power and pelf.

"If Narendra Modi has to do something then he should execute improvement in Gujarat. Why, In Gujarat 45 percent of children are malnutritioned? Why maximum of incidents of loot and dacoity are taking place of Mani Nagar (constituency of Narendra Modi)?" asked Modhwadia.

"A plot of 100 yards is not available to locals but why 100000 acres of land is being given to industrial barons, First he should give answers for these disparities; then he should think about the rest of the country, there are many people, who are worried about the country and should tell to people that what has he done for Gujarat," he added.

Modi had earlier yesterday sternly criticized the Congress-led UPA Government at Centre, saying it has disappointed people of the country with a series of scams coming to light and by ignoring burning issues like price hike.

"This Congress-led UPA government has disappointed people of the country by series of scams and failure of checking corruption and price hike," said Modi, while addressing party members on the concluding session of two-day state executive meeting held in Rajkot.

"Assembly elections are likely to be held in Gujarat by year end and people of the state have to decide to choose between BJP's politics of development and Congress's caste-based politics. We have won in 2002, 2007 and in 2012 Assembly elections, the condition is more favourable for BJP compared to 2002 and 2007 as people of the country are disappointed with Congress rule at the Centre," he added.
