Militant surrenders in Jammu and Kashmir after nine years

Rajouri, June 11 (ANI): Nine years after his return from Pakistan where he was sent to receive arms training, Mohammad Riaz, a militant, surrendered before the police here.

Riaz recalled he was threatened by a group of militants to join them, else they would gun him down.

"I was in school when I became a militant. Once I was returning from school, militants caught me and asked me to come with them.They threatened me that if I do not go with them, they would shoot me. They sent me to Pakistan. I was there for nine years and they trained me," Riaz said on Sunday.

He has been arrested and the police would soon present him in court.

"In 2003, we received a missing report in connection with this militant. In 2011, we decided to go ahead and find him, when it was confirmed that he was in Pakistan. We are going to present him in court," Raj Kumar, a police official, said.(ANI)
