Narayanasamy tells Kiran Bedi to stop making personal comments against PM, others

New Delhi, June 11 (ANI): Expressing his concern over a comment made by Team Anna member and former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Kiran Bedi, where she dubbed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh a modern-day Dhritarashtra, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) V. Narayanasamy on Monday advised the former to restrain herself from making such personal comments.

"As far as, Kiran Bedi is concerned, it is very unfortunate. She is making a very unfortunate allegation, because personal attack is to be avoided. We are also capable of doing that. But we are keeping our restraint. She was an officer in the Government of India. She has to maintain even after retirement, in making some kind of personnel comments against public functionaries. There are lot of things about her, which we don't want to say," Narayanasamy said.

"In fact, one issue, I already said, which she has not replied that is about her travelling by car and collecting money for her NGO, when she went for some organisation's meeting. That you know, paying back the money alone will not absolve of her deed, which was considered to be cheating," he added.

He further said: "There was another story going around, when she was the IGP in Mizoram, there was quota for local tribals students. She got admission for her daughter for which no explanation has come. Her daughter was not tribal. So, how she got admission in Mizoram."

"Kiran Bedi has several skeletons in her cupboard. So, she should not make any random allegations on others. She has to measure her words when she speaks about the prime minister and the other ministers. Making an allegation against ministers cannot be accepted," he added.

Kiran Bedi had earlier compared Manmohan Singh with Mahabharata's King Dhritarashtra, by saying that just like Dhritarashtra supported Kauravas, even after they attempted to disrobe Draupadi, the same way the Prime Minister is backing his ministers who were equal to Duryodhana.

Bedi's comments came following a letter from the Prime Minister Office (PMO) to Anna Hazare declining their demand for appointing a SIT squad to investigate Singh and 14 Cabinet ministers for alleged acts of corruption.

Narayanasamy wrote a letter to Anna Hazare on Friday that allegations against the prime minister were based on a leaked draft of the CAG report and reports in the media.

The letter, which was released on Saturday, was in response to Team Anna's letter of May 26 in which it charged Manmohan Singh and 14 cabinet ministers of "massive corruption" and asked for independent probe. Manmohan Singh was in charge of the coal portfolio from November 2006 to May 2009. (ANI)
