London, June 8 (ANI): Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist and vocalist Bob Welch, who went on to write songs and record several hits during a solo career, died on Thursday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police. He was 65.
Police spokesman Don Aaron said Welch's wife found him with a chest wound at their Nashville home around midday local time.
"Officers discovered Mr Welch with a single gunshot wound to the chest," the BBC quoted Aaron as saying.
"There was a suicide note found at the residence. Mr Welch had health issues. The police are investigating it as a suicide and there was no evidence of foul play," he said.
Welch, originally from Los Angeles, was a guitarist and vocalist with Fleetwood Mac from 1971 to 1974.
He formed the group Paris in 1976, and had hits including Sentimental Lady and Ebony Eyes in the late-70s.
Welch left the band before their biggest selling period, with albums such as 1977's Rumours coming after Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the group. (ANI)
