Bailed 'Bad boy' Barton sets off for 'bit of rest lots of golf' Portugal holiday

London, June 5 (ANI): Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton is on his way to Portugal for a holiday after being released from police custody on Monday night following his arrest in a brawl.

Barton, 29, was involved a scuffle during early hours of Monday while on a night out with his girlfriend in Liverpool City Centre, and was arrested on Monday on suspicion of a scuffle with two men outside a nightclub in Liverpool

Two men aged 21 and from the Old Swan area of Liverpool were arrested on suspicion of a public order offence at around 5.30am at the scene of the incident, outside Garlands nightclub in the city.

After their arrest and interrogation, Barton and a 20-year-old man were also arrested.

However, all have been bailed, including Barton, pending further investigations by the Merseyside Police.

"Merseyside Police can confirm that the 29-year-old man arrested on suspicion of affray has been released on bail pending further inquiries," the Daily Star quoted a police official, as saying.

Barton, on Monday night indicated that he was going on a holiday.

He tweeted: "Looking forward to Portugal now tomo. Bit of rest and lots of golf..."

Barton has a long history of controversy, both on and off the pitch. In 2008, he was given a six-month jail term after admitting assault and affray during an incident in Liverpool. (ANI)
