CWC to discuss political and economic crises

New Delhi, June 4 (ANI): The Congress Working Committee will meet here on Monday for a stock taking exercise of the political and economic conundrum the party finds itself in.

Mired by soaring fuel and food inflation and a relentless offensive by Team Anna and yoga guru Baba Ramdev, the CWC meet is expected to focus on dissent brewing within the United Progressive Alliance's (UPA) ranks.

The CWC meet will be the first after the Congress' debacle in Assembly polls. It is expected to address the discord within its own ranks, given the unequivocal and public opposition of the hike in fuel prices by party seniors A.K. Antony and Vayalar Ravi, and the resignation of Andhra Pradesh's leader of opposition from the party, Sidhramaiah.

Party chief Sonia Gandhi will preside over the meeting, which will be attended by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and other senior party members. (ANI)
