Patna, June 3 (ANI): Union Home Secretary R K Singh said the Centre would offer assistance to the Bihar government, if need arises, to tackle the violence which had hit the state after the funeral procession of Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh, alias 'Mukhiya'.
"Not yet, they have not asked for assistance from the Central government. Also if there any such request made by the state government then we will certainly respond to it. As of now there is no such request. I anyway think that there are sufficient central forces here and if the state government needs them, then they can surely take their help," Singh told ANI here on Sunday.
Singh also said that the administration had done well to control the situation and that people do get volatile on such occasions.
"No, I don't think so and these things happen. When there are such occasions where people get emotionally surcharged these things happen," he said.
The Ranvir Sena chief was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Bihar's Bhojpur District on Friday morning. Singh was on a morning walk near his house when unidentified assailants shot him.
Mukhiya, who was earlier facing life imprisonment in various carnage cases, was released on bail from jail in April this year. (ANI)
