Relative held for extortion call

Gurgaon, June 2 (IANS) A man was arrested here Saturday for trying to extort money from a property dealer-cum-relative by pretending to be a don based in the Gulf, police said.

Ashish Thapar, a resident of DLF Phase 5 here, got a telephone call May 17 purportedly from Dubai demanding Rs.4 crore. Thapar was told to pay up or get killed.

Sushant Lok police station chief Gaurav Fhogat told reporters that police tapped some mobile telephones that led them to Gaurav Sahagal, who had reportedly made the extortion call.

Sahagal was a relative of the victim and was also a property dealer, police said.
