New Delhi, June 1 (ANI): Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram has said that the government was waiting for a reply from Myanmar on the issue of border infiltration raised by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh during his recent visit, but the initial response was encouraging.
"India has raised its two-fold concerns to Myanmar and had received an encouraging response," Chidambaram told media here.
"Our concerns are two-fold. Firstly, we don't want any part of Myanmar territory to be used as camps by these insurgents groups. Secondly, if the government of Myanmar is able to apprehend any of the insurgent leaders we would like them to be handed over to India," he said
"We have made this request, the response is encouraging, but we'll have to wait and see what action is taken on the ground," he added.
Two-way trade with India, Myanmar's third-biggest export market after China and Thailand, is expected to swell to two billion U.S. dollars from 1.4 billion U.S. dollars within two years, Myanmar's government said. (ANI)
