England faces Lampard injury scare ahead of Euros

London, May 31(ANI): England's preparation for the Euro Cup suffered a major setback when experienced midfielder Frank Lampard collapsed clutching his thigh during a practice game on Wednesday, and there are fears he might have to pull out of the squad.

The Chelsea midfielder, who took nine days off before joining the England squad, would have a scan on Thursday that would clear the picture.

It will be a bitter blow for England coach Roy Hodgson, who has already lost keeper John Ruddy and midfielder Gareth Barry from his original 23.

Ruddy suffered a broken finger in training while Barry pulled a stomach muscle in the 1-0 friendly victory over Norway in Oslo.

Liverpool's 21-year-old midfielder Jordan Henderson is on standby as cover to Lampard, but it also means the Three Lions will be seriously short of experienced cover in central midfield.

Henderson, meanwhile, did not have a good first season at Anfield following his 20 million pound move from Sunderland and it was a surprise he was even on standby. (ANI)
