PM, Sonia congratulate Viswanathan Anand

New Delhi, May 30 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday congratulated Viswanathan Anand for winning the fifth World Chess Championship.

"You are a great inspiration to the youth of our country, particularly the sports enthusiasts. You have made the nation proud of you with this monumental achievement. I wish you many more successes in the future," said Dr. Singh.

Sonia Gandhi in her message said Anand has made the nation proud through his accomplishment.

"Anand has made India proud. His feat of winning the title consecutively for the fourth time is indeed stupendous," she said.

Anand retained the World Chess Championship title after defeating his challenger Boris Gelfand of Israel in Moscow today.

Anand finished off the championship match with a draw in the fourth tiebreaker game.

With this, Anand won his fifth world chess championship title after winning the ultimate glory in 2000, 2007, 2008 and 2010. (ANI)
