Nearly 80 trapped in cable cars rescued

Beijing, May 26 (IANS) All 78 people, including a few foreigners, trapped in cable cars at a mountain resort in China were rescued Saturday.

The tourists were trapped in Guilin city in Guangxi Zhang region, Xinhua reported.

The fire brigade received a report around 11 a.m. that dozens of people were trapped in the Yaoshan mountain spot in Guilin.

Over 200 people were involved in a rescue effort and all tourists were saved by 4.30 p.m. There were no casualties, said rescuers.

The accident was probably caused by power failure, officials said.
