London, May 24 (ANI): To close the gap on fastest man on earth Usain Bolt, British sprinter Dwain Chambers is taking help of the top sports psychiatrist Steve Peters.
The 34-year-old Londoner needs to run the British qualifying standard of 10.18secs in order to make the Olympic team. His best so far is 10.32.
Chambers is in the Czech Republic, where he returns to the spotlight and races Bolt for the first time since his Olympic ban was overturned.
The former drugs cheat has admitted it is a day he feared would never come, but is determined to make the most of it, The Mirror reports.
He approached Peters, the 'mechanic of the mind' and a man who has helped in transforming Sir Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton, Sarah Stevenson and Ronnie O'Sullivan into world champions.
Chambers said: "It's already been a massive help. I turned it down for a long time because I didn't think I needed it. But God, do I need it now. I'm on a kind of roller coaster, trying to find my feet and get myself prepared for competitions that I never expected to be in.
"I can put on a tough exterior, but internally there are things you need to deal with in order to get the best out of yourself. Through my own actions, I've been running with a lot of weight on my shoulders." (ANI)
