Iron-ore laden coaches derail in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, May 21 (IANS) Train services were hit in Waltair division under East Coast Railway in Chhattisgarh Monday as at least five coaches of a goods train derailed in Bastar region, railway officials said.

 

The derailment took place in an area between Kirandul station in Dantewada district and Jagdalpur station in Bastar district.

 

Railway officials said five coaches filled with iron ore on way from Kirandul to Andhra Pradesh port city Visakhapatnam derailed, completely blocking the tracks. Train services on the route were suspended for an indefinite period.

 

Railway administration has deployed personnel to restore rail traffic on the commercially important route.
