lokpal bill listed to be tabled Monday

New Delhi, May 21 (IANS) The lokpal bill is likely to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha Monday as it is listed in the scheduled business for the day.
Even though there is no consensus on the bill as yet, the bill has been added to the scheduled business for the day in a supplementary list.
Even after amendments being made in the bill, several points of contention remain. The opposition BJP still objects to the CBI not being made independent of the government.
According to sources, Minister of State for Personal and Public Grievances V. Narayanasamy and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajeev Shukla met leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley Monday morning in an effort to develop a consensus on the bill, but the meeting remained inconclusive.
Sources from the BJP added that if the bill is taken up very late in the day, the party will protest as the upper house will not get enough time to discuss the legislation.
