London, May 18 (ANI): 'X Factor' bosses dramatically called off talks with Dannii Minogue after she turned down Simon Cowell's final offer to be a judge on the show.
Executives had been discussing a comeback contract for weeks with ex-judge Minogue, and had even raised their offer from 750,000 pounds to 1million pounds, late on Wednesday night.
But when that figure was also snubbed on Thursday, they told the talented singer and her management that the deal was off and frantically began searching for another judge.
Angry 'X Factor' executives now claim that the 40-year-old had been looking for up to 5million pounds to sign up for the ITV1 show.
But her friends maintain that figure is "ridiculous" and she is actually turning down the deal to spend more time in Australia with her son Ethan, who is almost two.
"We really wanted Dannii but it has been a slow and drawn-out process and we don't have any time to lose," the Mirror quoted an 'X Factor' source as saying.
"We need to find someone as soon as possible and so we decided Dannii had enough time and was offered enough money so we walked away from the deal," the source said.
Minogue's decision to 'turn down' the 52-year-old comes just weeks after he boasted he had sex with her while the pair was both judges on the 'X Factor' panel last time.
It is thought those personal comments did not help when it came to trying to win Minogue back for the new series of The X Factor.
Bosses now have a chaotic few days speaking to agents and female artists, in a bid to find someone before new auditions start on Wednesday in Liverpool.
"It is chaos here. We had all our eggs in one basket and that basket was Dannii," one insider added.
Minogue would have taken the place on the panel of Kelly Rowland who quit the show after her negotiations broke down last month. (ANI)
