MCA ban on Shah Rukh Khan not final yet: Rajiv Shukla
New Delhi, May 17 (ANI): Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council chairman Rajiv Shukla on Thursday said no final decision has been taken on banning Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan from Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.
Talking to media outside Parliament a day after Khan reportedly misbehaved with security personnel and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials, Shukla said he would collect all evidence before reaching a final decision on the incident.
"I will take the version of the MCA, Shah Rukh Khan and the police before talking about the issue," Shukla said.
"The decision of a ban is taken by the Working Committee (of the BCCI). So, I will speak to MCA President Vilasrao Deshmukh on this. I have to take the version of all parties involved and then speak," Shukla added.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Balbir Punj said: "Shah Rukh Khan is a public figure, he should know how to behave in public. He should respect the norms"
The scuffle happened last night when the actor and his entourage were stopped from going on to the ground after the match, which the Kolkata Knight Riders won.
The cricket association has lodged a police complaint and said it will also complain to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
"He (Khan) misbehaved and abused the MCA security personnel as well as MCA officials, including our president Vilasrao Deshmukh, after the IPL match (between KKR and Mumbai Indians). We have decided to ban him for life from entering the stadium in future," MCA treasurer Ravi Sawant said.
"He was dead drunk, our security tried to stop him but he pushed him and abused in such filthy language that I cannot use it here. Our officials tried to pacify him but he started abusing them, he abused MCA, BCCI and used the f word and said whatever you want to do you do it...," Sawant added. (ANI)
