Sri Lanka to host junior Asian athletics meet

Colombo, May 12 (Xinhua-ANI): A total of 850 athletes from 43 countries and regions will participate in the 15th Asian Junior Athletics Championships in Sri Lanka next month, the Sports Ministry said on Saturday.

"Since Sri Lanka is hosting this event for the first time, measures are underway to hold the championships successfully and to achieve more medals," said the ministry's spokesman Harsha B. Abeykoonthe.

Sri Lankan authorities have upgraded facilities at its premier international sports stadium, the Sugathadasa Stadium, in time for the event. (Xinhua-ANI)
