London, May 12(ANI): Ace golfer Rory McIlroy is at risk of losing his number one ranking after missing the cut at the Players Championship.
McIlroy has now missed the cut three times in as many appearances at the Players Championship.
McIlroy, who skipped the Players Championship last year causing a huge uproar, said he kept his promise to come back. The Ulsterman claimed he needed to get used to the place more as for some strange reasons he is not playing well here.
"I'll be back, I promised," The Telegraph quoted McIlroy, as saying after finishing on four over.
"I just need to try to get the hang of this course somehow. There's something about this place I just can't get to grips with," he added.
"It's unbelievable. I shot 14 under last week at Quail Hollow to make the play-off and I feel I hit it exactly the same here, yet I'm going home. It's just one of those things," he said. (ANI)
